Busy*

Have no fear, I have not forgotten about my readers; this week has just been super crazy (and it’s only Tuesday night!). Anyway, so far, I:

  • Met Randi for a fun dinner (and flaming margaritas) at El Compadre.
  • Have been battling three enormous zits that are threatening to take over my entire face.
  • Went a whole day at work sans Internet access. (Boo technology!) And survived to tell about it.
  • Spoke to the lovely Ari on the phone for the first time ever. And she rocks.
  • Finally had a girls’ night dinner (and some amazing wine) with Eve and annabel lee at Violet. I have to disagree with Mair over at Losanjealous about the mac & cheese–I think Luna Park’s is much better than Violet’s.
  • Have played a ridiculous amount of phone tag with my Little. It shouldn’t be this difficult to get ahold of a 12-year-old, should it?
  • Have begun psyching myself up for Speeddating Wednesday night. I begged Eve to go with me, so at least if the guys suck, she and I will still have fun. Check back later for our gory details.
  • Began emailing with a new Jdate guy who a) doesn’t live with his parents; b) has a job; and c) isn’t a comic. I know, such progress!
  • Found another new recipe I don’t have time to try.
  • Have twice forgotten to pick up three pair of shoes from the shoe repair guy.
  • Learned that my dry cleaners turned dry cleaners/flower store turned dry cleaners/flower store/jewelry store probably is not the best place to go for dry cleaning.

Off to bed!

*I’m too tired to try to come up with a better title for this post. Live with it.

Proud of your progress. But I worry…are you and Ari rushing into things by talking on the phone so soon? I mean you’ve only known each other over a year and a half…

Ok, I always argue about this with your sister, but isn’t it 3 pairS of shoes??? PLURAL??? I could be wrong but I refuse to admit it! Either way, pairs sounds better…

Wow. Must be a boring post when all the comments are about the word pair(s).

And um, by the way:

After a number other than one, pair itself can be either singular or plural, but the plural is now more common.

I accept your apologies.

pair…pair…pair…
notice Hil, your info reads,”the plural is NOW more common.” During my years as a young adult, we followed all grammatical rules…now the rules seem to change with the “speak” of the population. UGH!!!!!!!!!! Grammar sure ain’t what it used to be!!!
Love you, honey

Good luck tonite

I am intrigued by the whole flaming martini thing.

Kristin: Margarita on the rocks, with salt, and a piece of lemon peel with alcohol (or something that ignites) on it. So when they bring it to you, the lemon peel is flaming.

And yeah, they are strong. And good.

It would normally be three pairS of shoes, but if you forget to pick them up, then you don’t have any of them. Therefore, the plural is not required. That’s the way we learned to speaka da Engalish in engineering school, anyways. LOL

All this shoe repair stuff reminds me of a really old Borscht Belt joke . . .

Does the Jdate guy use passable grammer and spelling, too? If so, I think you might have a winner.

I told you, Hillary — they put Gasoline in those margaritas to make them flame up! Well, they used to, before the price of gas became One Million Dollars A Gallon.
